This amazing line-up of games can be seen as a good thing and a bad thing. Because taking into account what has happened during other months, when PS Plus members get some nice games at a particular month, the next 3 or 4 following months will be terrible. Let’s hope that’s not the case this year.

Maneater

First, let’s start with the PS5 game. Maneater is a hugely successful PS4 game; it’s so fun and addictive. It’s one of those games where you wouldn’t mind grinding for hours and hours until you complete 100%. Every single collectible, unlockables, discoverable locations, and everything else are crafted so beautifully that it doesn’t really feel repetitive. With the upgrades and the number of things that you can unlock for yourself, there is always meaning to all the grinding you are doing. So Maneater is an action role-playing game By Tripwire Interactions released on May 2020 for all major platforms. The game has us control a female bull shark as she evolves into a megalodon of sorts eating up everything that she lays her eyes on.

Don’t be mistaken; it’s not just some fish simulator. It’s a very different game than that; the gameplay is so addictive and immersive. But the cherry on top is the fact that the story is brilliant as well. With games like these, when there is a very addictive storyline, you can’t help but complete the whole game as soon as possible. The gameplay is so immersive and has so many elements to it. You start your journey as a baby shark that can make minimal attacks. You can charge into your enemies, tail whip to stun them, dash away, bite, and so on. Being an open-world game, the environment can also aid in your combat. For example, other fishes can be used as a weapon against more deadly enemies. When you kill any other fish or life form, they drop valuable loot, as we see in basic RPG fashion. They drop different types of nutrients and other stuff that are needed for your shark to level up. This is where the grinding and level systems come in. There are so many other sea life that you can take on, but you can’t take them on the right from the start. You can only challenge other animals that are almost on the same level as you; if they are on a much higher level, you’d probably end up as fish food. Sometimes the perfect plan is to escape; you can grind, level up, and then come back to finish the job. Some enemies right from the start are impossible to defeat; you need to complete other missions and return to defeat them. To grind and level up, keep on defeating and killing other weaker animals; keep in mind to defeat different kinds of fishes and animals. Each of them drops different important items. Keep in mind this is a fully open-world game, so going on to shore is also allowed. But the amount of time you can spend onshore is based on your shark level; the greater the level, the more time you can spend on land. Watch the trailer here:

Obviously, being able to go on shore means you can eat and attack humans. This is actually one of the best parts of the game. Every single human runs in terror as they see you come close. Not just onshore, you can attack the ones swimming, on jet skis, and even climb upon boats, eat them up, and destroy the entire boat on your way out. You have to find underwater grottos, which acts as your home base. In these grottos, you can level up using the nutrients you have gathered to a much more powerful shark. By leveling up here, you can take on much more powerful creatures. Also, don’t worry, just like in video game fashion, there are many superpowers your shark can have, from wearing armor made of bones that can break boats in half to electric shocks that can stun almost all kinds of enemies. You can build your shark in any way you want, combining different skills. The story follows the main shark as he works his way up the food chain to defeat Scaly Pete, a wicked shark hunter. Pete once caught the baby shark’s mum when the baby was inside her. Pete killed the mum in cold blood, ripped the baby out, and threw it away. Now the baby is filled with hatred and vows to kill every single shark bounty hunter, with Pete being the final boss. You get to battle tons of different enemies like alligators, turtles, bull sharks, orcas, sperm whales, hammerhead sharks, seals, bounty hunting humans, and many more. It’s an entertaining and addictive game.

Shadow of The Tomb Raider

This is the continuation of the 2015 game, Rise of the Tomb Raider. Published by Square Enix and developed by Eidos Montreal, Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is an action-adventure video game released in 2018 for all major platforms. If you’re a fan of the Tomb Raider games this is a must-play; if you’re a fan of Uncharted games, this is also a must-play. Set in the tropical regions of the Americas, we see Lara finding her way to Paititi. That is a legendary city; only there can she stop a very Mayan calamity waiting to happen, the irony being she is the one who causes it. Along the way, she has to face off against Trinity, a para-military organization.

The gameplay is very much similar to the previous games; we can’t expect this game to reinvent the wheel or something. The gameplay back then was very addictive and fun; no major changes were necessary. But there are some new elements to the game. A new barter system is introduced where we can trade items and weapons. Stealth plays a great role in this game, which makes fans very happy. Greedfall

Developed by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive, Greedfall is an amazing action role-playing game that deserves all the received attention. The game was released for all major platforms in September of 2019. A version for all the new generation consoles will also be hitting the shelves pretty soon. So the whole thing was set in a fantasy type world in the 17th century; the player explores a huge island filled with locals and things to do. The locals on the island are constantly at war with outsiders who are trying to take over. Also, the people of the island are protected by some supernatural powers.

Like in true RPG fashion, every decision the player takes could have a huge effect on the story and the island’s relations with other people. The game offers some stellar combat gameplay filled with dialogues, quests, side quests, great characters, and also a not bad story to go along with it. So in the game, we take De Sardet, who can be part of any of the teams. This island we spoke of contains magic and other fantasy items, so people from all over are interested in being in control of it. So we as the player are given the opportunity to side with whoever we see fit, the current locals or even the people trying to take over. We also have our own motives; the player himself and his family are trying to find a cure for a very nasty plague. The cure could easily lie within the walls of the island. People really liked the game, even though it didn’t bring any huge ideas to the table; the story, the gameplay, the map, everything was a new take, and people found it fun. So these are the three games coming to the PS Plus in January. Like we said, taking into account what Sony has been doing for a while, the coming months could have a very disappointing line-up of games. This is without a doubt a great 3 games, so will you be getting yourself a membership? Happy Gaming! Read: Games That Got Us Through 2020
