Any hero’s quest arrives at a point where they must embrace their call to adventure and step into a new world of wonders and challenges. And, any film watcher’s experience comes at a time when they have to determine if the first five minutes sound promising enough to get their phone down and commit. (Look at you, you’re a phone-less vagabond.)
1. Interstellar
This 2014 epic science-fiction film is catching up with the World in the future and is decaying due to failing crops and constant dust storms. Hoping to save mankind from extinction, the NASA scientist plans to transport the people to a new world. Before this occurs, though, a team of explorers must pass through a wormhole to find a new place to call home. Interstellar has gained acclaim in many fields, including direction, social themes, special effects, acting, and musical score. In comparison, his brilliant design concepts impressed the reviewers.
2. The Peanut Butter Falcon
Shia LaBeouf and Zack Gottsagen starred as a local fugitive and a young man with Down’s Syndrome who, meeting each other while on the lam, developed an unexpected relationship. He left his treatment center determined to follow his dream future in professional wrestling, and one of his nurses soon met up with the two friends at large. But she may only end up being a wonderful third companion.
3. Speed
If you just know Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock from their modern film appearances, go watch Pace and see why America fell in love with them in the first place. Reeves hasn’t totally shed his Bill and Ted stoner vibe, but he’s always totally watchful (and hot) as a renegade officer. Sandra Bullock is a perfect, happy film. Connect a simple plot — a bus can’t go below 50 miles an hour or it’ll blow, killing all its passengers — and you’ve got a crazy, beautiful script.
4. Casino Royale
This is Daniel Craig’s first bond film, and is claimed to be one of the best James Bond movies ever made, and does an excellent job as James Bond. The film is directed by Martin Campbell, who previously directed a Bond movie starring Pierce Brosnan called GoldenEye. The film plot – Bond on the task of bankrupt jihadist financier Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale in Montenegro; Bond falls in love with femme fatale Vesper Lynd, a treasurer appointed to supply the funds he wants for the game. The film concludes with the plot arc that starts in the 2008 sequel, Quantum of Solace.
5. Aquaman
One of the best films DC has to offer, and it was a huge box office hit that earned more than $1 trillion. Jason Mamoa stars as Aquaman’s lead character and has done a fantastic job. The visual effects in this film set the benchmark in the DCEU, as this film is highly dependent on the VFX department to depict aquatic animals, marine life, and Atlanteans, and other sea tribes. Besides Mama, Patrick Wilson stars as Ocean Master, Amber Heard as Princess Mera, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanta. So it’s one of DC’s greatest successes in both critical and financial terms.
6. Die Hard
This hands down one of the greatest action movies ever made and jokingly known as a Christmas movie since it used to be broadcast during the holiday season. The film tells us the story of a cop played by Bruce Willis named John Mc Clane who arrives to fix up with his strangled wife Holly. Unfortunately, the evil genius named Hans Gruber targets the house where he lives, and now it’s up to John to save her and the day. Alan Rickman plays Hans Gruber, whom we all recognize as Professor Snape in Harry Potter movies. Bruce’s character Mc Clane is still an overlooked actor in the film world.
7. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring
This epic adventure film, based on J’s books. R. R. Tolkien, regarded as the founder of the fantasy genre. This is the fifth biggest film of all time and is renowned for its clean VFX, visually treated effects, and the beautiful New Zealand shots. The plot revolves around Frodo Baggins played by Elijah Wood, a hobbit who goes on an adventure around the world with his pal Samwise played by Sean Astin to take the One Ring of Power to Mount Doom and chuck it into the flames to avoid the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron. This must-watch for lovers of fantasy and adventure movies and the plot ends in the next 2 phases of the film.
8. Jurrasic Park
Another larger-than-life blockbuster from Steven Spielberg, Jurassic Park, carries on from what would be predicted if a billionaire had come up with a way to reinvent amusement park dinosaurs. Shockingly, even film billionaires don’t think about the ethics of their latest ventures. What some of the film characters lack in technical savviness, the filming itself makes up for with the practical effects and animatronics that made the norms of the period look primitive.
9. Shazam
Shazam is very popular among younger DC fans as this film has a satire and comedy based on a young boy called Billy Batson who is turned into an adult by speaking a word of Shazam! Zachery Levi is the best casting made by DC for the role of Shazam! The film follows Billy Batson, an orphan who has just moved to his adoptive family. He is selected as his new hero by the ancient wizard Shazam and gets different super-powers. Billy and his best friend Freddy Freeman must learn the latest powers of Billy to combat the wicked Dr. Thaddeus Sivan and the Seven Deadly Sins.
10. Annihilation
In this adaptation of Jeff VanderMeer’s celebrated climate fiction book, five female scientists fly to Area X, a mysterious and unknown biological catastrophe that destroys Florida’s coastline. Featuring an all-star cast of Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Gina Rodriguez, and Oscar Isaac, the road to the unknown drives these scientists beyond the limits of their bodies and their integrity.
